Douglas James, (1956–2007), grew up in the Dunbar area of Vancouver, graduating from Lord Byng Secondary School. Art was his lifelong passion, which flourished at the Vancouver School of Art. Graduating with an MFA from Concordia University, Doug began his teaching career at Emily Carr College of Art and Design and ended at Okanagan University College, now UBCO, Kelowna, inspiring students for over twenty years.
