Peter Scott Smith

Canadian, (1959–2009)

Peter Scott Smith was introduced to contemporary art through his studies at the Ontario College of Art (now OCAD University) while working as an art handler at the Ydessa Hendeles Art Foundation in Toronto. He was open about his struggles with mental health and schizophrenia, and used his artistic practice as a means to address these concerns. In 2004, Smith was awarded second prize in Ernst & Young’s Great Canadian Printmaking Competition. His work is in major collections, including Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt, Toronto, and the City of Toronto.
